Where do you find someone who will never give up on you? Everywhere you look, people give up on each other. Relationships fail. Parents fail their children. Children fail their parents. Husbands and wives give up on each other. Sometimes the stories we hear are so discouraging and heart-breaking!
There are also wonderful stories of sacrificial love. Stories of broken marriages being rebuilt and restored to something new and even more beautiful than they were at the beginning. Stories of children loving their aging parents beyond cultural norms; parents forgiving their wayward children and having open arms to them returning from rebellion. These stories melt our hearts and give us inspiration and hope for better things! We see glimpses of unconditional love, and it makes us want to hold on.
The truth is, this kind of unconditional love…the kind that seeks out a person, loves the person regardless of where they’re from or what they’ve done, even regardless of what they might someday do, is always…100% of the time (leaving no space for change and no fear of being let down)…found in GOD. Where people let you down and give up on you…even if you deserve it…you will find God as the most faithful and loving friend, even beyond what you can imagine.
I believe we can only truly grasp the relentless, overwhelming love and mercy of God when we recognize – and admit – how awful we’ve been.
We live in a society where the message is so often, “you’re a good person”, “you had a good reason for doing that,” “you’ve got to love yourself before you can love others,” “look out for number one.” There’s no room or allowance for regret, shame, or the DREADFUL word…SIN. Ugh, how dare I even say that word?!
But oh my goodness…have you experienced the FREEDOM of admitting you’re a sinner? That you have fallen short of God’s perfect and holy standard? Have you allowed yourself to put your hand over that prideful mouth that wants to spout excuses and say “well, I’m only human…” and have you fallen on your knees before a holy and righteous God? Oh friend…falling on your knees and admitting you’re a sinner before God is the first step to FREEDOM…being washed clean and totally made into a new creation by Jesus Christ. It is so freeing to be truthful about ourselves, because then God can show us who He truly meant us to be as children of God!
The apostle Paul wrote this to the church in Ephesus:
Once you were dead because of your disobedience and your many sins. You used to live in sin, just like the rest of the world, obeying the devil…All of us used to live that way, following the passionate desires and inclinations of our sinful nature. By our very nature we were subject to God’s anger, just like everyone else.
But God is so rich in mercy, and he loved us so much, that even though we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead. (It is only by God’s grace that you have been saved!) For he raised us from the dead along with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ Jesus. …
God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. Ephesians 2:2-9 – New Living Translation (NLT)
God has offered us peace, joy, love, everything good and pure and wonderful by doing for us what we could not do for ourselves. Being born again in Him is the most exciting and thrilling adventure ever!!! There are endless depths to Him, and we are on a never-ending journey to know Him deeper.
GOD WILL NEVER GIVE UP ON YOU.
Don’t think that you have gone too far or done too much wrong. That’s not the Father’s voice speaking to you. That’s the “accuser of the brothers and sisters” who is the devil (Revelation 12:10). God’s heart is so big for YOU that He loved you even when you were His enemy.
7 Now, most people would not be willing to die for an upright person, though someone might perhaps be willing to die for a person who is especially good. 8 But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. (Romans 5:7-8 NLT)
My song, “You Never Give Up On Me” is currently being professionally recorded in studio and sounds awesome!! I can’t wait to show it to you. The video below is from summer 2015, so stay tuned for my album release in the next couple of months!
As you listen, please follow along with the lyrics, and let them soak into your heart. He truly will never give up on you. This is for YOU, friend.
No matter how many times I have failed
No matter how many times I’ve let you down
You don’t give up… You never give up on me
I saw your love so brilliant at the Cross
You washed me clean and gave me a new name
I fell in love because You… never gave up on me
And you didn’t send me on my way
To figure out this life on my own
In the good times and the bad, You are right here
And you just don’t let go
I really don’t want to run away from you
But sometimes your love seems too good to be true
And I’m trying to believe that… You never give up on me
‘Cause you didn’t send me on my way
To figure out this life on my own
In the good times and the bad, You are right here
And you just don’t let go
It’s in the hardest times that I see
If your love had conditions, you’d have given up on me
But as it is, You are here, and my heart knows that you will
Never leave, never lie, keep your promise till I die
And so I run into your arms because You… never give up on me
Chorus
It’s in the hardest times that I see
If your love had conditions, you’d have given up on me
But as it is, You are here, and my heart knows that you’ll never give up on me
No, You never give up on me, You never give up on me, You never give up on me
I hope you will know and understand that the Heavenly Father longs to be close to you, and that no matter what happens, He will never give up on you. No, He’ll never give up on you. 🙂
Blessings to you, dear friend,
